Scholars Jana Funke and Hannah Freed-Thall will discuss curiosity and empathy as generative forces in the experimental queer/trans modernism of Cahun/Moore, Radclyffe Hall, and Bryher.

Hannah Freed-Thall is Professor of French Literature, Thought, and Culture at New York University. Her most recent book is Modernism at the Beach: Queer Ecologies and the Coastal Commons.

Jana Funke is Professor of Modern Literature and Sexuality Studies at the University of Exeter. She has recently co-edited the first critical edition of Radclyffe Hall’s The Well of Loneliness.
