Event Description
Ellen Poppy Hill presents a workshop and display featuring garments from her Cahun-inspired collection, recently shown in Vogue. Drawing on Claude Cahun’s exploration of identity, transformation, and performance, Hill’s work brings together fashion, sculpture, and embodiment to question how selves are constructed and perceived.

The session will combine discussion and close viewing of selected pieces, offering insight into Hill’s creative process and the ways in which historical avant-garde ideas are reimagined through contemporary fashion practice.

About Ellen Poppy Hill

Ellen Poppy Hill is a fashion designer and artist whose work explores identity, performance, and material transformation. She came to wider attention when, in June 2025, Vogue UK wrote: ‘a new fashion star is born’, following her spring/summer 2026 presentation to London fashion week which was largely based on the designer’s response to work by Claude Cahun. It was a show ‘that stood out for its imaginative, expressive designs and intimate, performative spirit’. (Daniel Rodgers in Vogue)

Hill has spoken about her creative philosophy, observing that “there’s a quote [from ‘Cancelled Confessions’] I think about a lot — about not sitting in a place of imbalance, but asking how you move forward when the world feels like it’s pulling you down,” a notion that animates both her designs and her engagement with avant-garde sources. British Vogue She also emphasises her approach to material reuse: “I never see something as ‘trash’ because everything has promise,” reflecting her commitment to upcycling and emotional connection with materials.
